Louis Berger Power (LBP) provides global expertise in design, procurement, construction, and operations and maintenance of power generation and primary distribution systems for continuous and reliable power. Our market is the intermediate niche between large spot generation applications and power stations greater than 100MW with primary focus on “island” power, remote locales and developing markets with limited or unreliable power infrastructure
LBP is currently accepting applications for a Project Manager (DOM) with Electrical or Mechanical Engineer, PE or PMP for our DC Home Office. The Project Manager will assist with solicitation review, proposal development, and project implementation and execution. As a primary additional duty, the DOM, will assume a major and leading role in developing new commercial power business.
The Ideal Candidate will be proactive in nature with strong technical, managerial and interpersonal skills in collaborating, communicating and working with (1) senior managers and staff, (2) local and international subcontractors; (3) USACE and other military clientele; and (4) local officials as required.
Assist in the transition from a primarily military-centric business clientele by the development of new International commercial power programs, projects and clients.
Attend and participate in conferences with clients. Collect information regarding future power plants requirements and funding. Consult with representatives of industry and federal agencies on plans, new developments, and methods to accomplish identified prime power program requirements.
Travel to remote and austere areas to lead the mobilization effort of specific projects. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring the installation/construction progress of the site development, procurement and logistics, thus serving as a single POC for the client. Monitor dollar amount utilization of the projects.
Manage and review all phases of project controls on assigned projects.
Continually review projects in progress, upcoming needs, and create plans, evaluations.
Collect project execution data from site managers for use in estimating cost and production rates for future projects. Recommend cost effective means of collecting data to ensure proper application to future projects. Engineering support is provided by others for technical aspects of this effort.
Reports to VP Operations, LB Power
Four-year engineering/technical degree
5 years of professional and project management experience
Experience in managing medium to large scale projects including managing a technical staff, inspectors and support personnel
Willingness to travel internationally to austere project locations at least 25% of time
Willingness to work on overseas projects for a longer period of time
Possesses the ability to understand basic electrical, mechanical, civil concepts, engineering and design and construction
Prior Experience working in international work environments.
