Louis Berger Services is currently looking for a full-time Runway Sweeper Operator Foreman to support our LOGCAP V operation at the US Army Udairi Airfield (UAAF) in Kuwait.  The Runway Sweeper Operator Foreman ensures that sweeper operators service and clean the airfield of foreign objects, trash, and debris and assists as need after aircraft emergency situations.


Although specific duties vary by assignment or contract typical duties include:

  • Oversee FOD Operators and ensure compliance with applicable policies, regulations, safety rules, and procedures related to airfield, including wearing required personal protective equipment
  • Maintain constant two-way radio communications with the tower while operating on the ramp
  • Conduct periodic inspections of airfield to identify areas with impediments to aircraft operations
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment with the operators at beginning and end of each shift
  • Oversee daily preventive maintenance checks and services on all sweepers
  • Establish a training program and provide training to subordinates
  • Establish a sweep schedule in accordance with the contractual requirements
  • May be called on to assist in keeping ramps/taxiways/runways open and operational
  • Produce, maintain, and archive FOD reports accordingly
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned by the flight operations supervisor or airfield manager


  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Must speak and understand English
  • Knowledge of radio and telephone procedures for communicating with Flight Operations and Air Traffic Control Tower
  • Working knowledge of standard Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and military visual signaling (both fixed wing and rotary)
  • Ability to operate sweeper equipment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Minimum four (5) years of experience in airfield and ramp operations or related field
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid county or host nation driver’s license
  • Ability to pass flight line driver’s training for assigned duty location
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and work in close proximity to operating aircraft
  • Exposed to hazardous noises that require wearing hearing protection and other personal protective equipment
  • Ability to operate and move equipment such as tow bars, portable stairs, runway sweeper, and other vehicles
  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
