Louis Berger Services is currently looking for qualified candidates to fill Electrician positions in the Middle East (Kuwait/Qatar/Iraq) to support the US Army at various sites.
Major duties and responsibilities:
o Serve under the direction of the Site Manager and in Site Manager’s absence under the direction Assistant Site Manager/QA-QC, to operate and maintain all low voltage distribution networks and power plant electrical equipment, electrical distribution equipment, and train other electricians/apprentices;
o Lead electrical teams or line crews to perform routine installation maintenance, and repairs on electric power control equipment, distribution lines, or electric-generating equipment in accordance with the NEC and local codes. In communication with the Power Plant Manager acts as the Senior Electrician and/or team lead:
o Promote and maintain safety following established safe work practices and procedures.
o Assist the utility power electrician in the location and rectification of faults on the overhead and/or underground high voltage networks during power interruptions.
o Assist electrical teams or line crews to perform routine installation maintenance, and repairs on high voltage switchgear, distribution networks, or diesel power generators.
o Work on power cables, transformers, insulators, and control equipment such as switches, circuit breakers, and panels. This includes collecting transformer oil samples that are tested for contamination as well as cleaning up contaminated sites;
- Install and connect transformers and make hot taps and splices;
- Assist the utility crew to install underground cable, conduit, and ductwork. Install transformers; string lights and power wires on cross arms and through ducts and manholes; make electrical connections; and splice cables;
- Erect and replace poles; perform rigging on high voltage motors, transformers, and compressors;
- Use and maintain various hand and power tools of the trade; and
- May assist in the operation of aerial trucks and associated equipment.
o Inform the Site Manager of the location of a failure, possible cause, and repairs required on the Distribution Network.
o Ensure correct testing and isolation procedures are followed before working on de-energized electrical networks or associated systems.
o Execute the company’s policy and procedure for proper and efficient operation of the power plants and distribution network;
o Abide by and adhere to all requirements in General Order #1 in conformity with US military standards and practices;
o As directed by the Site Manager.
o Other duties as determined.
o Experience in the Installation, Operation, and Maintenance of Low Voltage Distribution Networks and associated Hardware and Switchgear.
o Experienced working in international work environments in an expatriate or US military status
o Proactive nature and strong interpersonal skills in collaborating, communicating and working with (1) other senior managers and staff (to include Home Office management team), (2) Local and International subcontractors; (3) Army Corps of Engineers military representatives; and (4) local officials as required
o Experience in providing prime power O&M Services to clients;
o Experience in installing and maintaining high voltage electrical distribution network
o Experience in fault finding and rectifying in Underground and Overhead Distribution Networks.
o Experience with Synchronized Diesel Power Generators.
o Experience training teams from diverse cultural backgrounds
o Experience in Afghanistan
