    Louis Berger, a WSP company, has an exciting opportunity for an Architect and Interior Designer to join its Federal Program and Construction Services team in the Northern Virginia area. The Architect and Interior Designer will function in a key role interfacing with Government project managers, building maintenance contractors, general contractors, and/or other personnel, performing space and architectural surveys and collecting user requirements. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

     

    • Assist with design reviews of Government projects
    • Develop high-level cost for construction utilizing historical and research data
    • Prepare reports and cost and schedule estimates
    • Prior to design contract requests, gather and define customer's design requirements and prepare solutions ranging from conceptual design to final design within established parameters
    • Create design and construction documents, prepare project specifications, develop record control documents, and generate presentation graphics
    • Collect, prepare, and report programmatic information and official weekly project status reports
    • Coordinate design activities with architecture, engineering, safety, security, construction, and other related functional areas. Ensure compliance with Building Codes and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
    • Manage and monitor architecture and engineering (A&E) firms for multiple projects during the design and construction phases and handling contract close out
    • Manage project design and/or construction efforts, to include schedule, funding, and day-to-day project oversight
    • Manage and evaluate construction contractor performance and integrate/coordinate projects with field personnel
    • Evaluate, validate, and manage project change requests
    • Prepare and distribute project communication with customers, management, integrated project teams, and stakeholders
    • Assist the client's Contracting Officer (CO) and Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) with acquisition planning, execution and administration
    • Assist the CO and COTR with conducting pre-bid and pre-construction site visits with the COTR
    • Provide invoice supporting information to the COTR for payment
    • Prepare and monitor project schedules and budgets; provide technical guidance and assistance on contracting and construction-related issues; direct design efforts; recommend construction documents for approval; and provide oversight of any follow-on maintenance programs
    • Optimize performance, cost, and schedule by ensuring project objectives are achieved on schedule and at the lowest cost compatible with user requirements
    • Ensure timely input of all data, comments, and documentation into MAXIMO software project management tool. This requirement applies to all projects, work orders, and tasks across the project lifecycle.
    • Ensure integration of all systems, including information technology, telephone, security, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing
    • Prepare Contractor Performance Report (CPR) upon contract closeout

    Responsibilities

    Qualifications:

     

    • Seven (7) years of experience in architecture or interior design
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD
    • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or interior design
    • TS/SCI w Full Scope Poly
